COVID-19 UPDATE

We continue to take steps to do ministry and discipleship while making adjustments to the presence of the Covid virus.  In addition to sanitizing the Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, and Basement after each use, we have also made some adjustments to provide environments the can accommodate as many different types of situations as possible.  Below are some changes that have been made to try to meet the needs of our friends and family.

1.  A new 8:30am Worship service has been added.  This provides overall safety benefit by giving the opportunity for two smaller worship services rather that one large one.  This new service is also unique in the fact that it requires the FULL COVID PRECAUTIONS.  This includes both distancing and mask for anyone who participates.  This service is intended to provided as safe a place as possible for our higher risk worshipers.

2.  Our 10:30am Worship service continues to take basic Covid precautions.  It is important to note that in this service masks are optional and although there is social distancing provided on the side pews, the center do not require distancing.  This service includes congregational singing which is important to take into consideration when choosing which service you feel most comfortable in.

3.  If neither service feels safe enough for you we also offer some options that you can enjoy from your home or car.  We offer Facebook Live for the 10:30am Sunday Morning service as well as short-range broadcasting on FM - 88.9.  Lastly, we have a YouTube channel.  If you go to YouTube and search for HONEA PATH FIRST BAPTIST, you will find a collection worship services, Bible Studies, Testimonies, Devotionals, and more to use as tools for spiritual growth and encouragement.  You can also find these sites on our "media" tab above.

If you have any questions, feel free to let us know by using the "contact us" tab above.  Thank you for all you do to support the ministries of Honea Path FBC.  Please join us as we pray for our nation and seek God's guidance in recognizing how to serve HIM best during this time.

A letter from our Pastor Emeritus:

Dear Honea Path First Baptist Family,

I want to join you in the joy and excitement of the prospect of calling our new pastor.  God continues to bless our fellowship.  Jamie, Tracy, Melanie, Shelia, Allyson, and Michael have done a marvelous job in keeping our church together and moving forward during these months of transition. For that, we are all filled with gratitude and thanks.

I am thankful for the diligence and dedication to the task assigned to our Pastor Search Committee. Unless you’ve served on a similar committee, it’s hard to comprehend the countless hours of prayer, meetings, interviews, evaluations, lost family time, days fasting, and agonizing to seek God’s man for such a time as this. They have completed their task and deserve our gratitude.

We have missed worshiping with you each week.  It has been a blessing and a rewarding experience to serve as Interim Pastor at Shady Grove Baptist Church.  I know they would appreciate your prayers as they continue the search process for their next pastor. Because of our responsibilities at Shady Grove, we will not be able to be part of this coming weekend’s activities and very important trial sermon.

I have not had the opportunity to meet Dr. and Mrs. Phillips, but I have communicated with him by email/message after he was announced by our search committee.

Allow me to share my message to him.

Good Morning Josh,

Even though we have not formally met, and you don’t know me and I don’t know you, let me say I KNOW the members of the Search Committee for Honea Path First Baptist Church. I wholeheartedly trust their judgment, wisdom, and discernment. I just wanted to say congratulations on your selection by this committee as the prospective Pastor for FBC.  Be assured we share their excitement and confidence that you are the man God has chosen to lead in the next chapter in the life of our church. We will be praying for you, your wife, and children as you travel to South Carolina for this upcoming special weekend. We pray that God will bless you, your family, and your ministry. We are looking forward to meeting you and your family. My desire is to be “your greatest cheerleader and supporter!”
Until He Comes!
Mike Moody

P.S.  Looking forward to being able to call you my pastor. I have not been able to say that in about 40 years

Church Family, know that we will be praying for you and are asking God to infuse our fellowship with a new sense of excitement, unity, and commitment to purpose (Faith, Family, and Friends for the next Fifty Years) this weekend. I am convinced that our greatest days are ahead.

In Jesus, Joyful

Pastor Mike
